If you would like to follow my colour scheme, you can find the list of colours in both Scheepjes Softfun and Stylecraft Special DK in this document here

The pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation is below in brackets along with the abbreviations we will be using

  • Single Crochet (Double crochet) = sc
  • Double Crochet (Treble crochet) = dc

The Pattern

You will need a 3.5mm hook for this stitch

Using Colour J, make a chain of 80

Row 1. In the 3rd chain from your hook make a sc (the turning chain counts as a sc) sc in each stitch across – 79 stitches

Row 2. Turn, chain 1, sc in the first stitch using both loops. Using the front loop only sc in each stitch across, except for the last stitch where you sc through both loops and change colour to Colour O.

The unused front loop

Row 3. Turn, chain, sc in both loops in the 1st stitch. *dc in the front loop of the row 2 rows below , sc in the back loop only of the row below* repeat between *and* sc through both loops in the last stitch

The dc made in the unused loop 2 rows below

Row 4. Repeat row 2

Row 5. Turn, chain, sc in both loops in the 1st stitch. *sc in the back loop only, dc in the front loop 2 rows below* repeat between *and* sc through both loops in the last stitch

Rows 6-14. Repeat rows 2-5, changing colour every 2 rows

My colour changes after row 3 are

  • End of Row 4 change to Colour M
  • End of Row 6 change to Colour K
  • End of Row 8 change to Colour G
  • End of Row 10 change to Colour L
  • End of row 12 change to Colour N

The Border

With a 4mm hook, join with Colour E (your joining colour) and make a slst into the side of each sc down the short end. Along the long side, make 1 slst in every sc.

You will have 14 slst across the short ends and 79 slst across each long side.

Weave in your ends, and join the piece to week 15
