The Pattern
You will need a 3.5mm hook for this piece
With Colour K make a Chain of 80
Row 1. In 3rd ch from hook make a sc (turning chain counts as the first sc) sc in each chain – 79 stitches
Row 2. Turn, ch1 make alternate turning chain in the 1st stitch. In the same stitch make 2dc. *skip 2 stitches and sc in the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches then make 5dc in the same stitch* repeat between *and* 3dc in last stitch, change colour to Colour M in the last stitch.
Row 3. Turn, ch1, sc in first stitch *ch2, dc5tog over the next 5stitches. You do this by making the first part of the dc in each stitch, but leave the last 2 loops on your hook then start the next dc. You should have 6 loops on your hook once you’ve worked into all 5 stitches. Then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops
ch2, sc* repeat between *and* sc in last stitch
Row 4. Turn, ch1 make alternate turning chain in the 1st stitch. In the same stitch make 2dc. *skip chain 2 then a sc in the space at the top of the dc5tog, skip the chain 2 and make 5 dc in the next stitch* repeat between *and* 3dc in last stitch, changing colour back to Colour K in the last stitch
Rows 5-9. Repeat rows 3 and 4
Row 10. Turn, ch1, sc in the 1st stitch. In each ch2 space make 2sc, sc in the top of each fan and sc.
The Border
With a 4mm hook, join with Colour E (your joining colour) and make a slst into the side of each sc row and 2 slst into the side of every dc row down the short end, but make 2 slst into the side of row 10. Along the long side, make 1 slst in every sc.
You will have 14 slst across the short ends and 79 slst across each long side.
Weave in your ends, and join the piece to week 19
