The Pattern

You will need a 3.5mm hook for this piece

With Colour O make a chain of 80

Row 1. In the 3rd chain from your hook make a sc (turning chain counts as a sc) sc in the next 3 stitches. *Chain 4, skip 4 stitches and sc in the next 4 stitches* repeat between *and* sc in the last 6 stitches. Cut off your yarn.

Row 1 of the Link stitch

Row 2. With Colour L make a chain of 80

Weave your chain through the chain spaces of the row below, threading it from the right side, in and out of the chain spaces. You might find it helpful to secure the ends to the previous piece with stitch markers.

Weaving your 2 pieces together

In the 3rd chain from your hook make a sc (turning chain counts as a sc) sc in the next 3 stitches.

*Chain 4, skip 4 stitches and sc in the next 4 stitches but make sure you’re making them on the correct side of the previous piece. I’d recommend watching the video for how this works* repeat between *and* sc in the last 6 stitches. Cut off your yarn.

Row 3. With Colour M make a chain of 80

Weave your chain through the chain spaces of the row below, in the opposite way to the last row. So if you started threading the last piece from the front, thread this piece starting at the back.

In the 3rd chain from your hook make a sc (turning chain counts as a sc) sc in the next 3 stitches.

*Chain 4, skip 4 stitches and sc in the next 4 stitches*and* sc in the last 6 stitches. Cut off your yarn.

Your pieces of the Link stitch

Rows 4-9. Repeat row 3.

The Border

With a 4mm hook, join with Colour E (your joining colour) and make a 2 slst into the side of rows 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 and 1 slst into the side of rows 2, 4, 6 and 8. Along the long side, make 1 slst in every stitch.

You will have 14 slst across the short ends and 79 slst across each long side.

Weave in your ends, and join the piece to week 31
