The Wall Of Stitches crochet along is made up of 48 separate pieces that are joined together 4 pieces wide and 12 pieces high. All these pieces need to be joined together after you’ve added the border onto each of them. So how will we be joining your Wall Of Stitches pieces?

For this project I’ve chosen the Flat Braid Join. I hate sewing, so I really wanted a way to crochet them together and I think this join suits the pattern perfectly. You will use the same method to join both the individual pieces and the strips of 4 pieces that we will be making.
For all your joining you will need 255 meters (279 yards) of yarn in total. I recommend using the same colour as the border of your pieces so that the joins all blend into the background. I chose to use Black as my background and used Paintbox 100% Cotton Aran which is LoveCrafts own brand of yarn.

Joining The Pieces

You are going to join your pieces with the Flat Braid stitch. There are 4 pieces in every row – 2 small, 2 long. And each row is also joined to the next with the flat braid stitch.
To make the flat braid join insert your hook into the middle corner stitch of the piece on your right (on your left if you’re left handed).
You want to insert your hook from the top of the stitch down through both loops. Then insert your hook into the 2nd piece, again from the top of the stitch through both loops so that your hook is between the 2 pieces. Now you will yarn over with your joining yarn and pull it through all loops on your hook
Continue this down until you reach the corner stitch of your border – you will have 20 flat braid stitches joining your pieces.
Joining Your Rows Together
To join your rows together you will be staggering your pieces. Count 18 stitches in and this will be your starting point for one piece, and the other you will be starting in the middle corner stitch.
Make the flat braid join all the way down your strip. When you get to a join between 2 pieces, make a flat braid stitch into each of the corner stitches on either side. You will have 204 flat braid stitches in each row join.
You will join all twelve rows of the Wall Of Stitches this way so that all your rows are staggered. At the end you will look like you have a piece of brick wall.
