Week 14 Of The Country Garden Crochet Along

It’s week 14 of the Country Garden crochet along. This week we’re making the Filet grid that we will use to create next week’s stitch.

This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:

  • ch (Chain)
  • dc (double crochet) = treble crochet

The Pattern

Round 1. Into the 2nd corner stitch of either long side, join with Colour A with a standing dc. 

Make a dc in the next 8 stitches, then  *ch1, skip the next stitch. Make a dc in the next 9 stitches* repeat between *and*

Your skipped stitches

When you reach the corner, make 2 dc in the 2nd corner stitch

Working around your corners

repeat between *and* on the short side too. Except the last repeat before the corner will only be 8 dc

You should have 8 repeats down each long sides and 7 repeats down the short sides

repeat round each side. make your last dc in the same stitch that you started the round. slst into the starting chain.

You will have 7 repeats on the short sides (91 stitches), and 8 repeats on the long side (103 stitches)

Make your last dc in the same space as the 1st one

Round 2. In the same stitch you finished round 1, make a dc turning chain. Make a dc in the next 6 stitches *chain 1, skip the next stitch, then make a dc. Chain 1, skip the next stitch, then make a dc. Chain 1, skip the next stitch, then make a dc. 

Dc in the next 5 stitches* repeat between *and* after the last repeat  make a dc in the next 7 stitches, then make 2 dc in the 2nd corner stitch.

Make the same repeat between *and* on the short side, except you will have 6dc after the last repeat.

Work round all 4 sides, then when you get back round to the beginning, make your last dc in the same stitch as your starting chain. Slst into the turning chain.

Your skipped stitches in round 2

Round 3. In the same stitch you finished round 2, make a dc turning chain. Then dc in the next 4 stitches *chain 1, skip the next stitch, then make a dc in the next stitch* repeat between *and* until you have 4 stitches left before the 2nd corner stitch. Make a dc in the next 4 stitches, then make 2dc in the 2nd corner stitch.

On the short side, repeat between *and* but you will only have 3 stitches left before the 2nd corner stitch.

Work round all 4 sides, then when you get back round to the beginning, make your last dc in the same stitch as your starting chain. Slst into the turning chain.

Cut off and weave in your ends.

You will have 7 repeats on the short sides (93 stitches), and 8 repeats on the long side (105 stitches)

Your 3rd round of week 14

You can now cut off and weave in your ends.
