It’s week 32 of the Country Garden crochet along. This week we’re making a corner piece using the Waffle Shell stitch that will be attached between the Moss stitch and Bobblet panels. This is a stitch that has a 2 row repeat with a block like look.
If you would like the ad free printable version, it is available either as part of my Lifetime Pattern Pass, or you can purchase it on its own for just £5 from Ravelry
This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:
- ch (Chain)
- sc (single crochet) = Double crochet
- dc (double crochet) = treble crochet
If you would like to follow my colour scheme in either Paintbox Cotton Aran or Caron Simply Soft, you can find my colours here

With Colour P make a foundation chain of 21 – if you tend to chain tightly, you may want to use a 5.5mm hook for your chain before switching back to a 5mm for Row 1
Row 1. In the 4th chain from your hook (the turning chain counts as your 1st stitch) make a dc. dc in each stitch across – 19 dc
Row 2. turn, chain 1. sc in the 1st stitch *ch2, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch.* repeat between *and*
Row 3. turn, chain 1. make a dc turning chain in the 1st stitch *in the chain space make 3dc. around the sc in the row below make a fpdc* repeat between *and* dc in the last stitch
Row 4. turn, chain 1. sc in the 1st stitch, *chain 2. skip the 3dc and then make a sc in the fpdc* repeat between *and* sc in the last stitch
Rows 5 – 22. Repeat rows 3 and 4
Row 23. Turn, in the 1st stitch make a dc turning chain. *In the chain space make 2 dc, then make a dc in the next stitch* repeat between *and* – 19 dc
Now you can cut off and weave in your ends
Now you need to attach this piece between the Moss and Bobblet panels by Whip stitching them together.
Turn everything over so you are working on the back side. Using the back loops on both pieces, sew them together.
On the long side of this week’s piece you will sew make 2 stitches into the side of each dc row and 1 stitch into the side of the sc row
On the short sides you will stitch them together stitch for stitch
