It’s Week 21 of the Country Garden crochet along and this week we’re making our crocodile flower square which we will be attaching between our arrow and colourwork arrow panels

This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:
- slst (slip stitch)
- sc (single crochet) = Double Crochet
- dc (double crochet) = Treble Crochet

The Pattern

Round 1. With Colour D make a magic circle. Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 8 sc into the loop. slst into the first sc
Round 2. ch2 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 2 dc in each stitch. slst into the first dc – 16 dc
Round 3. ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 2 sc in the same stitch you slst into, then make 1 sc in the next stitch. *make 2 sc in the next stitch, make 1 sc in the next stitch.* repeat between *and* slst into the first sc – 24 sc
Round 4. ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 2 dc in the same stitch that you slst into, then make a dc in the next 2 stitches. *make 2 dc in the next stitch, make 2 dc in the next 2 stitches* repeat between *and* slst into the first dc – 32 dc
Round 5. ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 2 sc in the same stitch that you slst into, then make a sc in the next 3 stitches. *make 2 sc in the next stitch, make a sc in the next 3 stitches.* repeat between *and* slst into the first sc – 40 sc
Round 6. With Colour H join into any stitch in round 5. ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 2 sc in the same stitch, make a sc in the next 4 stitches. *make 2 sc in the next stitch, make a sc in the next 4 stitches.* repeat between *and* slst into the first sc – 48 sc
Round 7. Working Crocodile stitches around the posts of round 2
With Colour H join around any post in round 2. *make 6dc around post making sure you stitches are being made from the centre of the round outwards – this will make the point of the stitch face the outside edge.
ch1, then work 6dc around the next post, working towards the centre of the round. slst between the next 2 posts*
repeat round – 4 crocodile stitches
Round 8. With Colour O join around the post in round 4, just to the side of the point of any crocodile stitch
Working into posts of round 4
*make 6dc around post, ch1, then work 6sc down the next post. slst between the next 2 posts* repeat round – 8 crocodile stitches
Round 9. With Colour A join into any stitch. *sc in the next 11 st. in the next st make (sc, dc, ch1, dc) all in the same stitch* repeat between *and* slst into the first sc of the round.
Cut off and weave in your ends.
Now you need to whip stitch this square between the Arrow and colour work arrow panels using the back loops only. Each dc row of the panels will join into 2 stitches of this square, and each sc row will join into 1 stitch.
