This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation is below.
UK Translation
Single crochet (sc) = double crochet
Double crochet (dc) = treble crochet
The Pattern
For the panel you will need a 3.5mm hook
The first and last stitch of each row is a sc made in both loops, all other sc are made in the back loop only. All dc are made in the front loop of the sc 2 rows below (in the same colour as the row you’re currently making)
All rows are made without turning. Cut your yarn after finishing each row
Mosaic crochet is usually read using charts. The chart is below and shows what your work should look like after your dc stitches cover the sc in the row below. The X shows where you should make a dc.
The pink lines show where the repeat starts and ends. Repeat the 17 stitch repeat in the middle 12 times.
Start with Colour A. The first and last stitch in each row is a single crochet made in both loops, all other sc is made in the back loop only
Chain 226, then cut your yarn.
Row 1. Join in the 1st chain, then make a sc in each chain across
Row 2. Colour B – join in the first stitch of row 1 and make a sc. Sc in every stitch across. In the last stitch make a sc.
Row 3. Colour A – join and make a sc. Sc every stitch across. In the last stitch make a sc in both loops
Row 4. Colour B – join and make a sc in both loops. Dc, then sc in every stitch across until you have 2 stitches left. Dc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 5. Colour A – join and make a sc. Sc, dc, 7sc, dc. *dc, 15sc, dc* repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, 7sc, dc, sc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 6. Colour B – join and make a sc. Dc, sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc. *sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc* repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc, dc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 7. Colour A – join and make a sc. Sc, dc, 3sc, 3dc, sc, dc *dc, sc, 3dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, 3dc, sc, dc* repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, sc, 3dc, 3sc, dc, sc then sc in the last stitch
Row 8. Colour B – join and make a sc. Dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, dc, sc *sc, dc, 3sc, dc, 5sc, dc, 3sc, dc, sc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, dc then sc in the last stitch

Row 12. Colour B – join and make a sc. Dc, 7sc, dc, sc *sc, dc, 6sc, dc, 6sc, dc, sc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, 7sc, dc then sc in the last stitch
Row 13. Colour A – join and make a sc in both loops. Sc, 5dc, 3sc, dc *dc, 3sc, 4dc, sc, 4dc, 3sc, dc* repeat between * and * 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, 3sc, 5dc, sc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 14. Colour B – join in the first stitch of the previous row and make a sc in both loops. Dc, 5sc, dc, sc, dc, sc *sc, dc, sc, dc, 9sc, dc, sc, dc, sc* repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, sc, dc, 5sc, dc then sc through both loops in the last stitch.
Row 15. Colour A – join and make a sc in both loops. Sc, 3dc, 3sc, dc, sc, dc *dc, sc, dc, 3sc, 5dc, 3sc, dc, sc, dc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, sc, dc, 3sc, 3dc, sc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 16. Colour B – join and make a sc. Dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, dc, sc *sc, dc, 3sc, dc, 5sc, dc, 3sc, dc, sc* repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, dc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 17. Colour A -join and make a sc. Sc, dc, 3sc, 3dc, sc, dc *dc, sc, 3dc, 3sc, dc, 3sc, 3dc, sc, dc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, sc, 3dc, 3sc, dc, sc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 18. Colour B – join in the first stitch of the previous row and make a sc in both loops. Dc, sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc *sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – sc, dc, 5sc, dc, sc, dc then sc through both loops in the last stitch.
Row 19. Colour A – join and make a sc. Sc, dc, 7sc, dc *dc, 15sc, dc* Repeat between *and* 12 times. In the last 11 stitches – dc, 7sc, dc, sc then sc in the last stitch.
Row 20. Colour B – join and make a sc. Dc, then sc in every stitch across the row until you have 2 stitches left. Dc in the next stitch then sc in the last stitch.
Row 21. Colour A – join and make a sc in both loops. Sc in every stitch in the row.
Weave in all your ends.
There is no border on the panel, and you don’t need to add the interlocking border either. We will be joining the panel onto the rest of the blanket in the final week.
