Yarn Information
For this pattern I’ve chosen to use 5 different colours of Caron Simply Soft, but you can use any Worsted / Aran weight yarn of your choice.
The colours I’ve chosen are:
- Colour A = Off White (9702)
- Colour B = Orchid (9717)
- Colour C = Plum Wine (9722)
- Colour D = Pistachio (0003)
- Colour E = Sunshine (9755)
| Yarn Colour | Total Amount Needed | No. of Balls |
| A | 2500m / 2735yds | 10 |
| B | 900m / 985yds | 4 |
| C | 1104m / 1210yds | 4 |
| D | 977m / 1070yds | 4 |
| E | 1095m / 1200yds | 4 |
Hook and Tension Note
A note about tension.
Although I use a 5mm hook throughout for this pattern, whether you do the same is going to depend on your tension as you change stitches.
We tend to make single crochet stitches much more tightly than double crochet ones. This pattern needs consistent tension across the different stitches to make your squares the same size. If this is something you have trouble with then going up a hook size to a 5.5 or even a 6mm hook for the single crochet based squares will solve the size problem.
