The Pattern
You will need a 3.5mm hook for this stitch
With Colour N make a chain of 17

Row 1. In the 2nd chain from your hook pull up a loop. Insert your hook into the 4th chain from your hook and pull up a loop. Complete as a normal dc.
*insert your hook into the horizontal bar half way down the previous stitch
and pull up a loop.
Insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop.
Complete as a dc* repeat between *and* until you reach the end of the row – 14 stitches
Rows 2-40. Turn, chain 2. Working into your turning chain, insert your hook into the 2nd chain from your hook and pull up a loop (you may find it easier to work into the chain before you turn)
Insert your hook into the first stitch of the row below and pull up a loop. Complete as a dc
*insert your hook into the horizontal bar half way down the previous stitch and pull up a loop. Insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop. Complete as a dc*
repeat between *and* until you reach the end of the row – 14 stitches
The Border
change to a 4mm hook
With colour E (your joining colour) join into any stitch on the outer edge with a slst.
Make 2 Slst into every row down the long edges. You don’t need to add any extra stitches in the corners.
Down the short sides, make 1 slst into each sc
When you get back around to where you started, slst into the first stitch. Cut off and weave in your ends. You should have 80 slst on each long side, and 14 on each short side
Weave in your ends, and join the piece to week 13
