Welcome to week 32 of the FrankenScrap crochet along, the ugliest and scrappiest crochet pattern that you ever did see!
Over the next 49 weeks, we are going to be making 53 different crochet stitches, each in a different piece of this patchwork blanket. The FrankenScrap was designed as a scrap project, so dive into your yarn stash and clear out those odds and ends that you’ve just not been sure what to do with.

The FrankenScrap is a completely free crochet along. Each week the next piece of the pattern will be published on my blog, but if you want the concise and add free pdf delivered to you each week that will remain in your Ravelry library, you can purchase that for just £5 here. This is a one off payment that covers the entirety of this CAL.
If you want to prep ahead, you can find out how much yarn you need for each week here as well as the layout and where each piece will fit.
Week 32 Of The FrankenScrap Crochet Along
Our next piece of the FrankenScrap crochet along is made with the Cobblestone stitch. For this piece you will need a total of 80 meters of DK / Light Worsted yarn. I used Sirdar Cotton DK, a 100% mercerised cotton yarn that is wonderfully silky and glides over your hook. This yarn keeps it’s round shape when using it, it doesn’t flatten out so it’s great when used for stitches where you want that detail to be really clear.
I also used a 4 mm hook – I recommend using Clover Amour hooks. A cost effective hook that is comfortable in your hands thanks to their ergonomic design, so doesn’t make your hands tired when crocheting for long periods of time. I love my Clover hooks and although I own several different hook brands, I inevitably end up going back and using my trusty Clovers.
The Cobblestone stitch has a small bobbly texture that is quite distinctive. It is easy to make and can be used for all kinds of crochet projects such as baskets, clothing and would also be good for twiddle muffs due to the raised texture.

Abbreviations
- Ch = Chain
- Sk = Skip
- St = Stitch
- Slst = Slip Stitch
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Tr = Treble Crochet
Start by making a foundation chain of 53 with a 4mm hook.
Row 1. In the 3rd ch from your hook make a sc (your turning ch counts as the first st of the row). Make a sc in each stitch across – 52 st
Row 2. Turn and ch 1. Make a sc in the first st *make a tr in the next st and then make a sc in the next stitch* repeat between *and* making a tr in the last st of the row. To finish the row make a slst in the same st as the tr – this is to make your tr bend and make a raised bump (this slst doesn’t count as a stitch when working your next row) – 52st
Row 3. Turn and ch1. Make a sc in the tr in the row below (skip the slst). Make a sc in each stitch across – 52sc
Row 4. Turn and ch 1. Make a tr (the st, not a turning ch) in the first st of the row.
*in the next st make a sc, then make a tr in the next stitch* repeat between *and* make a sc in the last st of the row.
Row 5. Turn and ch1. Make a sc in each stitch across – 52sc
Rows 6 – 25. Repeat rows 2 – 5
Joining Your Pieces
Your finished piece should be 52 stitches wide and 25 rows high, which counts as 25 stitches high for joining purposes since you have all sc rows. You can see how the pieces are joined together here. If you are following my gauge, then your piece will measure 32.5cm wide and 13cm high. Remember this is just a size indication and if your gauge is consistent throughout, then your pieces will fit together nicely even if your sizes do not match with mine.
The Cobblestone piece should be joined underneath week 31’s Jagged stitch piece and they are both the same length so will be joined stitch for stitch. You will also join this piece to the left hand edge of week 13’s Forked Cluster piece.
The layout below shows how your pieces should be attached in relation to each other.
Click here to see how to join your pieces with the single crochet join. They should line up stitch for stitch using the counts stated above.
Once you have joined this weeks Cobblestone stitch piece to the previous pieces, that is it for week 32 of the FrankenScrap crochet along, I’ll be back next Friday for week 33 and the next piece of your CAL at 8pm UK time.
