Week Ten Of The Country Garden Crochet Along

Week 10 Of The Country Garden Crochet Along

It’s week 10 of the Country Garden crochet along. This week we’re making our next panel made with the Front and Back facing Popcorn stitches to create the look of a bed of marigolds

If you would like the ad free printable version, it is available either as part of my Lifetime Pattern Pass, or you can purchase it on its own for just £5 from Ravelry

This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:

  • ch (Chain)
  • dc (Double crochet) = Treble crochet

If you would like to follow my colour scheme in either Paintbox Cotton Aran or Caron Simply Soft, you can find my colours here

The way this panel is made leaves a lot of ends, and the joining into chains can be tricky. I’d advise leaving a generous tail so that nothing comes undone as you work.

You need to cut off after every Colour change, except for the place indicated in row 1.

Row 1. With Colour L, join into the 2nd corner stitch on the bottom side with a standing dc. Make a dc in the next 7 stitches. In the last 2 loops of the last dc change to Colour D

ch3 then skip the next 3 stitches. *Make a front facing Popcorn stitch

Make 5dc in the same stitch, then remove your hook from the last stitch, insert it from front to back into the 1st dc of the 5. Catch the loop from the 5th dc and pull through as a slst.

Change colours before starting your popcorns

Then ch1 and skip the next stitch* repeat between *and* until you have 5 popcorn stitches.

ch 3 then join Colour L (keep Colour D joined) into your chain, skip the next 3 stitches, then make a dc, changing back to Colour  D in the last 2 loops.

Week 10 before the ends have been woven in

Now you just need to weave in all those ends (sorry 😬)

When weaving in, make sure each tail is pulled nice and taught so you get a smooth join, especially where you joined into the chain.

You will still see some of the yellow underneath the orange stitches, that’s normal
