The Pattern

You will need a 4mm hook for this stitch

With Colour P, make a chain of 81

*In the chain 1 you just made, pull up a loop. In the last spike of the previous star pull up a loop, pull up a loop in the last stitch the previous star was made in, then pull up a loop in next 2 stitches. You will have 6 loops on your hook.

Pull up in a loop in each of these stitches

Row 2. Turn, chain 1 and make the alternate turning chain in the first stitch. Make 2 hdc in the ch1 of each star in the row. Finish the row with a hdc in the 2nd stitch of the previous row – 80 stitches

The Border

With a 4mm hook, join with Colour E (your joining colour) and make a slip stitch into each stitch across the top and bottom. Down the sides make 2 slst into the side of each stitch in rows 2-7. In the side of rows 1 and 8 make just 1 slst.

You will have 14 slst across the short ends and 80 slst across each long side.

Weave in your ends, and join the piece to week 41
